Nobody likes to hear the truth, even from a mate... Angela (Julia Deakin) decides not to go to the coronation in case boyfriend Geoffrey rings Mrs Vaille (Elspet Gray) Clarence mistakes Miss Angela for a standard lamp! He literally needs Travers to point out the porcelain And he can't see it even when shown - good catch Jane! Both get on like a house on fire though Jane Travers (Josephine Tewson) With no van, they pile the furniture up on the pavement The street urchins have other ideas for the furniture... Clarence doesn't notice that he's being offered a light by the furniture he's just carried out - and that it's on fire! But Jane does! Clarence takes Jane off to see the bonfires, and to get some fish and chips At his flat, Travers finds Clarence's dad's picture amusing - it's a mirror! Heading down to Jane's aunty's cottage, Clarence spots a nice place for a picnic! Travers bowls straight up the garden path - while Clarence can't even find the gate! Their first night together, even if one of them's sleeping on the floor... ... though not for long! A cottage in the country The Vicar's wife (Ann Rye) has a job for Clarence... ... but putting the sofa leg through the window wasn't what she had in mind! Travers and Clarence populate the chicken run Clarence finds their first egg - though Travers thinks it's the china one given to encourage the hens to lay! (It isn't!) Mrs Titheridge (Gwen Nelson) their new employer Considering, Clarence isn't so bad as a handyman Though when he leaves outside the pub while he goes to get a drink and a bag of crisps for her... ... it would have been handy if he'd noticed she wasn't there when he got back! Poor old Jane has to collect her employer from the pub - slightly the worse for drink! The big day arrives - Clarence: "I can see me way clear now"
